В аутентичном виде этот миф не известен, как и славянская дохристианская мифология в целом. Возможна лишь его реконструкция на основе вторичных письменных, фольклорных и вещественных источников[1]. На фольклорную космогонию повлияла библейская, прежде всего апокрифическая традиция, в том числе богомильская картина мира.
